The Odyssey Live Reading

Join WordTheatre at the 2018 London Literature Festival, now in its 12th year. We are delighted to be invited back to Southbank Centre by Ted Hodgkinson, Senior Programmer for Literature and Spoken Word. Come hear a live reading of  The Odyssey inspired by Emily Wilson’s groundbreaking new translation of Homer’s text, the first by a woman, and adapted by Claire Allfree.

An exceptional cast of actors* directed by Cedering Fox, Artistic Director of WordTheatre, brings to life this enduring story of a hero making the perilous journey home to his family from the Trojan War. One of the oldest works of Western literature, composed in the eighth century BC, Homer’s timeless epic explores universal questions about what it means to have a home and what binds a family together. Cast: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Joseph Marcell, Luke Newberry, Danny Sapani, Ray Panthaki, Nina Sosanya, Elliot Cowan, MyAnna Buring and Bellamy Young. Music composed by Jonathan Sacks.  Musical Director, Ewan Campbell.
