Guests experienced the excitement of high seas, raging rivers and exotic cultures at WordTheatre’s Thrill or Peril: Tales of Adventure, featuring short stories of daring exploration recanted lovingly amid the twinklings of M Bar’s chandeliers.

  • Toni Trucks (Barbershop) read “Disco Papa” by Karen Russell
  • Nina Siemaszko (The Haunting of Molly Hartley) read “The World” by Susan Orlean
  • Keith David (Platoon, The Princess and the Frog) read “Rope Burn” by Henry Louis Gates
  • Bill Ratner (Moth Winner) performed his short story, “Gold”.
  • Josh Cereghino (Moth Winner) performed his short story, “Love Letter from Ventura County Jail”.
  • George Newbern (Father of the Bride) read “True Story” by Paul Rudnick
