We gathered in the private theatre of the 12th Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth for an evening of great writing brought to life by well known actors. All writers were present for a Q & A following the performances.

Program:

  • Julian Sands (24) performed a story by Ben Okri, Booker Prize winning author of The Famished Road
  • Ian Hart (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) performed a story by Will Cohu, who was on the 2010 and 2011 shortlist for The Sunday Times Magazine EFG Private Bank Short Story Award – the biggest prize for a single short story in the world
  • Caroline Goodall (Schindler’s List) performed a story by Ron Carlson, author of The Signal
  • Jean Marsh (Upstairs Downstairs) performed a story by Evgenia Citkowitz, author of Ether – recently released to rave reviews from The New Yorker and The New York Times
  • John Schwab performed a story by Ron Carlson, prolific American author of five novels and five short story collections, Carlson is the director of UC Irvine’s MFA writing program – considered by many one of the best writing programs in America
