WordTheatre expertly matched brilliant actors and terrific short stories. The evening featured performances from:

  • Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey‘s Cora Crawley) performed “Prepositions” by Lionel Shriver (present)
  • Ben Miller (DI Richard Poole on Death in Paradise) performed “East Coast, West Coast” by Will Cohu (present)
  • Emma Hamilton (The Cold Light of DayThe Tudors) performed “Under the Minarets” by Alison MacLeod (present)
  • Damien Molony (Hal on Being Human) performed “People Carry Roses” by Toby Litt (present)
  • Zoe Boyle (Lavinia Swire on Downton Abbey) performed “Dreamwork” by Pamela Painter

  • Will Cohu (2013 PEN/Ackerly Prize shortlist,  Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award shortlist and longlist)
  • Toby Litt (Manchester Prize winner, Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award shortlist)
  • Alison MacLeod (Booker Prize nominee, also nominated for a Frank O’Conner International Short Story Award and a BBC National Short Story Award)

EFG is a keen supporter of the written word. It is closely associated with The Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award, the world’s richest prize for a short story. It also supports a number of literary festivals, including Charleston, Althorp and Chipping Norton, and has worked with WordTheatre for several years.

Proceeds benefited WordTheatre performances in underserved schools.
